Chernikhov Creative Solutions is an interdisciplinary design firm that takes a constructive, fantasy-based approach to helping architects in the public and private sectors innovate and imagine. Our approach, which we call the Chernikhov Method®, empowers our clients to use spatial, formal, and rhythmic thinking to solve professional challenges of all kinds.
We identify new ways to design cities through our unique approach to form, functionality, harmony, and rhythm.
We envision new typologies and programmatic possibilities, and we provide our clients with the tools to invent efficient, cohesive, functionally legitimate artistic creations of their own.
THE CHERNIKHOV METHOD®: CONSTRUCTIVE DESIGN THINKING
“The constructive approach… does not seek to solve particular problems in isolation, but aims at the best utilization of all possibilities, both the formal and compositional, and the technical and constructional, by linking them together in a creative process of synthesis.” —Yakov Chernikhov, Founder
The principles of constructive design thinking can transform the way architects design buildings, services, processes, and strategy. This approach, which we call the Chernikhov Method®, brings together what is desirable from an artistic point of view with what is analytically justifiable and spatially and formally inventive . It also allows people who aren’t trained as architects to use creative tools to address a vast range of challenges.
Constructive design thinking is a systematic process that taps into abilities that are fundamental to human design activity, but have been lost in the contemporary context. It relies on our ability to be intuitive, to recognize patterns, to construct ideas that are emotionally meaningful as well as functional, and to communicate our thoughts with intense visual conviction. Nobody wants architecture based only on feeling, intuition, and inspiration, but an over-reliance on the rational and the analytical can be just as risky. Constructive design thinking provides an integrated third way.
